Weblogs

Saturday I had the pleasure to speak to a group of librarians at the TLA District 8 Fall Meeting. I was surprised by just how few had even seen a Web log. Of the 30-40 attendees only 5-6 had even seen a 'blog. Maybe some others had, but didn't know the Web page they were looking at had that term applied to that format. Still, these competent capable professionals could live full lives without any contact with 'blogs. We who do write in this format should remember this is a nitch. One that I think fills a need, but still just a nitch. I hope some of those at the talk have a better understanding of just how 'blogs can be a part of the information universe. If anyone from the meeting is reading, thanks for spending your Saturday morning listening to me and for your questions. I hope you found it worth your time.

- Happy Birthday
Now We Are Two. Two years ago I started Catalogablog. I saw it as an experiment in blogging, a possible way to keep in touch with news in cataloging and a way of archiving items of interest. It is still an experiment, though less so. I have found that...
