The Firefox extension, LibX looks like a very useful tool.It recognizes, CrossRef DOIs, ISBNs, and ISSNs, and PubMed IDs. Has OpenURL support, including COinS. Supports off-site access. Can be customized for your institution. This is one I'll have to download and try.
